Membership Services
Membership entitles you to a range of services, as follows:
Education and training
Covering modern apprenticeships (including the provision of
grant funding), workshops, seminars and in-house training on a wide
range of topics.
Employment Relations
Advice and expertise on all aspects of employment law and
working practices.
Health and Safety
The Federation provides Members with informed guidance on all aspects of Health and Safety relating to the printing industry.
Surveys
On the state of trade, productivity and profitability, salaries
and wages.
Pension and Business Insurance Schemes
The Federation provides members with advice on the Scottish
Print Pension Scheme and Business Insurance.
Technical and Legal
Technical and legal advice can also be given by the federation.

Cost of Membership
SPEF subscriptions are paid annually to cover the period 1 April -
31 March. A member firm's subscription is calculated on gross wages
paid to employees engaged in a production capacity during the year
to 31 December. The rates of subscription that apply per £100 of
relevant wage roll are as follows:

There is a minimum subscription of £170 and a maximum of £6,000.
Members paying the full subscription by 31st May qualify
for a discount on the amount due in the subscription year.
Alternatively, members who do not wish to claim the cash discount
may pay by direct debit or standing order in ten equal monthly
instalments from 1st June through to 1st
March. Companies taking up membership of the Federation after 1st
October pay a reduced subscription in their first year of
membership.
A subscription is regarded by the Inland Revenue as an allowable
expense for tax purposes.
